a bleak diagnosis
Caleb was born with Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum, a brain disorder where the bridge between the right and left side of his brain never developed. The neurologist painted a bleak picture of Caleb's future, telling us that he would probably never walk or talk.
the backroads
Early in high school, Caleb's art teacher could see his sophisticated sense of color and composition. She observed his creative and social skills developing substantially, and his classmates were in awe of how he translated his vision onto canvas.
The neurologist once explained that because Caleb doesn’t have the main highway in his brain, he takes the backroads. And with every new canvas, he builds a new roads.

there’s more to the story
Written by Caleb’s mom Laura, this firsthand account tells of the trials and triumphs of these last 23 years.
Missed Taxi
Missed Taxi is a colorful, whimsical acrylic painting of a taxi, winding roads, and a stop sign/tree.
Caleb's inspiration for Missed Taxi comes from years of taking Shared Ride Taxi to his jobs and workouts. Caleb moves at his leisurely pace, so he often has difficulty being ready for the taxi. Since Shared Ride Taxi has a 3-minute "No Show and Go" policy, the taillights of a taxi ready to take off are a common sight etched in his mind.
Caleb connects with people wherever he goes; many of his taxi drivers have become personal friends. These friendships motivate him to be punctual so he doesn't have a Missed Taxi!
